Last night, October 20, 2026, Trash Titans won the 2026 Ruthie for Junk Removal Services. I'm still a little in shock. Mostly I'm grateful. Thank you, Murfreesboro.

What Is a Ruthie?
The Ruthies are Rutherford County's community's choice awards. This year was the 32nd annual program. The awards are run through the Daily News Journal, and Volunteer, A Lawrence Bank sponsored this year's program.
What makes a Ruthie special is that it comes from the community. Businesses don't apply for it and a panel doesn't pick the winner. It works like this:
- Nominations (May 8-29, 2026): Anyone could nominate their favorite local businesses, up to once a day.
- Voting (July 17-31, 2026): The top nominees in each category became finalists, and the public voted daily for their favorites.
- Winners (October 20, 2026): Winners were announced at the awards gala, then shared online and in the Daily News Journal.
There are more than 180 categories covering the Murfreesboro area, from restaurants to realtors to home services. That means every Ruthie winner got there because neighbors took time out of their day, again and again, to vote. If you voted for Trash Titans, thank you. I know what that took.
Where It Started: Donut Country
I didn't start out hauling junk. My first job was at Donut Country in Murfreesboro when I was 15. Kristy and Bo Davis gave me that first opportunity.
A first job teaches you things nobody else can. You learn to show up on time, treat every customer right, and do the job the right way even when nobody's watching. Kristy and Bo trusted a 15-year-old kid, and I learned a lot about running a local business from watching them.
Three Years Later, Ruthies All Around
Three years later, the three of us stood together at the Ruthies, and the wins were all around us.

- Kristy and Bo's Donut Country won two Ruthies, for Doughnut Shop and for Bakery.
- Bo also won a Ruthie for Best Realtor.
- Trash Titans won for Junk Removal Services.
That picture means more to me than the award. The people who gave me my first chance were standing next to me, being recognized by the same community. If you've ever wondered whether a first job matters, this is my answer: it does.
What This Means for Trash Titans
The Ruthie doesn't change how we work. It just makes me want to work harder to deserve it. Every job still gets:
- Honest, upfront pricing. You'll know the cost before we start. Check out our junk removal cost guide for Murfreesboro for typical prices.
- Showing up when we say we will. I learned that one at Donut Country.
- Respect for your home or property. We clean up after ourselves and treat your place like our own.
- Responsible disposal. We donate and recycle when we can instead of sending everything to the landfill.
Whether it's a garage cleanout, furniture removal, an appliance pickup, or a full estate cleanout, we handle it the same way we always have.
Thank You, Rutherford County
To every customer who hired us, left a review, told a neighbor, or voted: thank you. Trash Titans started with a truck, a trailer, and a lot of hope. You can read more about that in how a teen built a real business in Middle Tennessee. This award belongs to y'all as much as it does to me.
And to Kristy and Bo Davis: thank you for that first chance. Congratulations on your Ruthies, too.
